Donor tips
Get a good sleep before donation
Drink plenty of water 1–2 days before and on the day of donation. It helps you tolerate the procedure better.
Have breakfast on the day of donation
Lack of sleep can cause dizziness. Get at least 7–8 hours of sleep before donation.
No alcohol 48 hours before
On donation day – a light breakfast: porridge, bread, tea. Avoid fatty, fried and dairy foods.
Blood donation procedure
Registration → questionnaire → doctor examination → finger prick test → blood donation. The whole process takes about 1 hour.
Contraindications to donation
Temporary: colds, medication, recent surgery. Permanent: chronic diseases, HIV, hepatitis. Details from the doctor at the center.
Donor health
After donation rest 10–15 minutes, have some tea. Avoid heavy physical activity for 24 hours. Next whole blood donation no sooner than 60 days.
